Deep Robotics sells the Lite3 as a tiered platform: one 12-degree-of-freedom chassis, five configurations that differ in what runs on top - from bare locomotion to a full LiDAR navigation stack. Above them sits the Lynx M20 Pro, a wheel-legged industrial machine in a different class entirely. All five Lite3 tiers share the same chassis, motors, RK3588 motion host with 9-axis IMU, and hot-swappable quick-release battery - so code, controllers, and accessories move freely between them. A spare Lite3 wireless controller ($498.60) is available separately. Note that unlocking AI Motion Mode on any Lite3 shortens the joints/legs/battery warranty from 6 to 3 months - a manufacturer condition worth knowing before you enable it.
Which Deep Robotics platform should you buy?
Lite3 Basic
$2,890.00Choose this if you want the most affordable path onto a serious quadruped. It walks, trots, climbs 15 cm steps, and self-recovers out of the box, and the open C++/Python SDK plus ROS packages make it a clean platform for gait work and classroom labs. Add your own sensors later via the M5 mounting deck.
Lite3 Basic AI
$4,968.00Choose this if reinforcement learning is the point. Hardware-identical to the Basic, but AI Motion Mode ships unlocked: RL-trained locomotion policies, deployment through the Lite3 RL repo, and 18 cm stair capability. The natural pick for sim-to-real and locomotion-learning research groups.
Lite3 Venture
$6,480.00Choose this if you plan to build your own perception stack. The Venture adds dual Ethernet plus 24/12/5 V power outputs for third-party sensors and supports an optional Jetson Xavier NX - so you integrate exactly the cameras, LiDAR, or compute your project calls for instead of paying for a fixed configuration.
Lite3 Pro
$12,510.00Choose this if you want perception research running on day one. The Pro ships with a Jetson Xavier NX, Intel RealSense D435i depth camera, wide-angle camera, and dual ultrasonic radars, with forward obstacle avoidance and Visual SLAM pre-configured - ready for object detection, person tracking, and autonomy work.
Lite3 LiDAR
$18,270.00Choose this if autonomous navigation is the research goal. It adds 3D LiDAR on top of the Pro's camera stack, with Faster-LIO SLAM and a Nav2 navigation stack pre-configured, plus a LiDAR-exclusive autonomous mode. The trade-off: the heaviest Lite3 with the lowest payload budget (2.5 kg) and range.
Lynx M20 Pro
$61,200.00Choose this if the robot has a job outdoors. The wheel-legged Lynx M20 Pro is IP66-sealed, runs from -20 to +55 degrees C, carries 15 kg of sensors, climbs 25 cm stairs and 80 cm obstacles, and patrols up to 15 km per battery with dual 96-line LiDARs onboard - built for substation, pipeline, and facility inspection. Can the Lite3 work outdoors or in rain?
The Lite3 handles outdoor terrain - grass, gravel, dirt, stairs - but it is not weatherproof: Deep Robotics specifies a 0 to 40 degree C operating range and advises against rain, snow, and wet conditions, so treat it as a dry-environment platform and wipe away any incidental moisture. If your deployment is genuinely all-weather, the IP66-rated Lynx M20 Pro is the platform designed for it.
Which model should a reinforcement-learning lab start with?
The Lite3 Basic AI is the purpose-built choice: RL gaits ship unlocked, the deployment repo is supported out of the box, and URDF/MJCF models for Gazebo, MuJoCo, and Isaac Sim keep the sim-to-real loop tight. Budget-constrained labs can start on the Basic and unlock AI Motion Mode later - just note the core-parts warranty drops from 6 to 3 months once unlocked, and PyTorch/TensorFlow training runs on your host machine, not the robot.

Lite3 models ship from standard stock allocations, while the Lynx M20 Pro is a build-to-order industrial platform - typically 4 to 6 weeks from order to dispatch, which we coordinate directly with Deep Robotics. As an authorized dealer we handle all warranty claims: 12 months on electronics and the locomotion controller, 6 months on core parts such as joints and battery.
